New Scholarships for Potential Leaders and Scholars
BST is pleased to announce up to 3 new scholarships from September 2026
These scholarships are aimed at graduates seeking a first degree in Theology.
Relevant degrees:
BA in Theology
MA in Practical Theology (online)
Essential Information
Required Criteria
- Candidate must be an Evangelical Christian
- Seeking a first theological degree in preparation for subsequent full-time Christian service
- Seriously committed to pursuing a vocation in the UK/RoI, either in full-time church or para-church leadership, or in evangelical scholarship or research
- Demonstrating potential for future impact in this vocation
Additional Criteria
- Should normally be a graduate in a field other than theology
- Those lacking access to government tuition loans are particularly welcome to apply
- Study must start (or for current students, continue) in Autumn 2026
Scholarship Amounts
Scholarships will amount to:
- £3,300 per annum for each (remaining) full year of a full-time programme
- £1,650 per annum for each remaining year of a part-time programme
- Maximum of 3 years full-time/6 years part-time
Scholarships are for the direct benefit of the student named and most appropriately used to reduce tuition fees
Application
Application entails:
- A successful application to the BST degree programme (BA (Hons) or MA)

- In addition to the normal BST application form, those seeking the scholarship must also complete the additional BST scholarship form*
Applicants are strongly encouraged to make their applications by 11th March 2026. Offer of place onto course must be made and accepted by 12 noon 14th April 2026
An endorsement from BST will be given based on offers accepted by 12 noon 14th April 2026
- Deadline to apply to Awarding Institution on receipt of BST Endorsement: 5 June 2026. This must be accompanied by an endorsement by BST or the application will be rejected.
Applying
BST can nominate up to three applicants. Of the successful applicants, BST will nominate the three that are judged to best fulfil the criteria of the scholarship, based upon their responses on the BST scholarship form.
Successful scholarship applicants will be notified by 16th April 2026, with the provision of an endorsement from BST. It is then the responsibility of the applicant to apply to the Awarding Institution using the Awarding Institution’s application form, including the BST endorsement and two references, by 5 June 2026.
The decision about whether to award the scholarship will be made by the Awarding Institution. BST will have no impact on the decision beyond providing the endorsement.
